Sunwater Limited charges laid over QLD girls drowning

Qld Workplace Health and Safety has charged Sunwater Limited and Trelleborg Engineered Systems Australia after the drowning death of a four-year-old girl at a recreational area at the Bedford Weir on the Mackenzie River near Blackwater in Queensland last November.

SunWater Limited and Trelleborg Engineered Systems Australia have been charged with breaching the Workplace Health and Safety Act.

Young Nelani Koefer drowned when she was swept away by a rush of water as an inflatable rubber dam device failed.

An investigation into the accident, in central Queensland, has been completed.
